Kilimanjoro is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the largest extinct volcanoes . It can be climbed at any time except in .April and may during the long rains. January to march and August to October are the best climbing seasons.
Leave Nairobi with shuttle bus around 8.00am in the morning to Namanga boarder for migration formality after you drive further to Arusha town for lunch, dinner and overnight in the hotel
DAY 2: MOSHI – MANDARA HUT
After breakfast, drive 45kms to Marangu gate an altitude of 1,860
Walk to Mandara hut 2,741m ( 9,00ft) through dense semi-tropical rain forest , for your Dinner and overnight in the hut.
DAY 3: MANDARA – HOROMBO HUT
Start early morning for a 7-8 hours walk towards Horombo . The landscape becomes more rugged and rocky but superb, with both mawezi and Kibo peaks in view,Lunch served on the way . You spend your second night at the Horombo hut , an altitude of 3,761m ( 12, 335ft)for Dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: HOROMBO HUT-KIBO
After breakfast leave the hut and walk 13km which takes 6hrs to Kibo Hut 4732m ( 15,520 fts0 above sea level Lunch served om the way . Spectacular mountain vegetation like cactus ,ground well and lobelia appear meals and overnight at the hut.
DAY 5: KIBO- UHURU PEAK –HOROMBO HUT
The final attempt to the summit is made in the early hours of the morning at 12.00 am . It takes about 8hours to climb the steepest and most difficult part of the route to Gilman’s point
( 5, 681m) 18,630 fts from Gilman’s it takes 5-6 to 2 hours to Uhuru peak, 5, 896m (19,344) After sun rise photo, Descend to Kibo hut for full breakfast and after proceed to Horombo hut for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6: HOROMBO/MANDARA – MOSHI
After breakfast leave the mountain through the tropical Rain forest via madara hut to marangu gate where you will catch your transfer to Arusha town.
